Arthur Marshall - Call My Bluff
Was an English writer, raconteur, teacher and broadcaster, best remembered by television viewers as a captain on the BBC panel show Call My Bluff. Before becoming a television personality, Marshall taught modern languages at Oundle School. He began writing humorous material and reviewing books in the 1930s, including writing about children's and schoolgirl literature. His particular interest in the conventions and characters of English public-school life became a recurring theme in his humour.
Call My Bluff, this was probably his greatest television association. Call My Bluff was a BBC panel game in which teams attempted to identify the correct meaning of obscure words. Marshall became a team captain in 1981, following the death of Patrick Campbell, and remained associated with the programme until his death in 1989.
